Obverse description Crowned facing portrait (full face effigy) of King Edward III set within an inner beaded circle, with the surrounding legend in uncial Latin script. Two pellets appear above the mintmark, a diagnostic feature distinguishing this Transitional treaty period issue. The portrait is rendered in the bold, stylised manner characteristic of mid-14th-century hammered English silver coinage, with prominent crown and facial features typical of the fourth coinage type.
Obverse script Latin (uncial)

Reverse description A long cross pattée extending to the inner beaded circle divides the reverse field into four quarters, each containing a trefoil of pellets in the characteristic arrangement of the Transitional treaty period halfpenny. The mint name legend in uncial Latin script is divided across the four quadrants by the arms of the cross. The bold, irregular flan and deeply struck pellets are consistent with hammered production at the London mint circa 1361.
