Obverse lettering MELBOURNE W.J.TAYLOR MEDALLIST TO THE GREAT EXHIBITION 1851
Reverse description The reverse is entirely textual, with no pictorial device. The merchant's firm name CROMBIE CLAPPERTON & FINDLAY arcs around the upper and lateral portions of the coin as a circular legend within a toothed border. The central field displays the business address in four lines reading 41 / WEST / LONSDALE / STREET, with a small decorative floral ornament below. The overall composition is typical of Australian tradesman's token issues of the 1850s gold rush era.
