Obverse description A boldly struck Gothic capital letter B occupies the central field, denoting the Bergen mint. The letter is rendered in relief and enclosed within a circular ray garland or radiate border composed of alternating pointed rays and pellets, typical of late medieval Norwegian bracteate coinage. The overall design is characteristic of the simplified mintmark issues produced at Bergen during the second half of the fourteenth century.
