| Obverse description | Central crowned Portuguese royal arms shield displaying five escutcheons arranged in a cross pattern, each charged with five bezants (quinas), within a plain inner border. The crown surmounting the shield is rendered in low relief in the hammered style typical of Portuguese colonial coinage. The overall design is contained within a roughly circular flan with irregular edges characteristic of hammered production. |
