Obverse description Central deity figure of Vishnu standing facing, holding a sword in his left hand, flanked by dotted and symbolic devices on either side with a lotus flower in the lower field. The central motif is enclosed within a double bead circle. A forked ribbon border carries bilingual legends in Tamil and Telugu scripts, separated by a star device at the junction of the ribbon.

Reverse description Central depiction of a seven-tiered temple gopuram (ornate gateway tower) rendered in detailed architectural style, enclosed within a buckled garter belt border. The garter belt carries the English legend HALF PAGODA along the upper arc and a Persian legend along the lower arc. The overall composition reflects the dual administrative and indigenous character of Madras Presidency coinage.
