Reverse description The reverse presents an elaborate floriated cross with arms terminating in trefoil-like fleurs, extending to the coin's border and dividing the field into four quadrants. At the centre of the cross is a small panel containing the letter 'h', the initial of the king's name, serving as a mintmark or royal device. Saltire stops punctuate the surrounding circumscription. The overall design is characteristic of the ornate gothic cross type employed on Henrician gold coinage of the light issue.
