| Additional information |
Issued as part of Israel's long-running Independence Day commemorative series, the 47th anniversary falls in an awkward position — neither a round jubilee nor a particularly charged historical moment. The series has produced coins annually since the early 1950s, each themed by Knesset selection, and "Medicine in Israel" reflects the recurring practice of honoring domestic scientific and social achievement rather than military or political events.
KM#392 is among the less actively traded issues in the series. Aluminium bronze pieces from this run were sold through the Bank of Israel's coin and medals department in both regular and proof-like finishes, with the latter accounting for the majority of surviving uncirculated examples.
