| Obverse description | Central field features a stylized floral or vegetal device enclosed within a raised inner circle, rendered in the traditional Nepalese hammered style. Surrounding the central motif, four groups of Devanagari legends are arranged in the cardinal positions of the field, invoking the names of the goddess Bhavani, the Gorkha kingdom, and King Prithvi, alongside the Nepalese Samvat date 9392. The coin is bordered by a prominent raised bead or granulation ring encircling the entire design, characteristic of Nepalese gold mohars of this period. |

Prithvi Bir Bikram Shah came to the throne in 1881 at age five following the sudden death of his father Surendra — though real authority rested with the Rana prime ministers who dominated the Nepalese state throughout his reign. Gold Mohars of this period were struck at the Nepal Mint in Kathmandu under conditions that produced considerable variation in flan preparation and strike pressure, meaning pieces from the same obverse die can differ noticeably in surface texture and edge definition.
