| Obverse description | The obverse field is entirely occupied by a multi-line Arabic legend executed in bold thuluth script, arranged in horizontal registers across the irregular flan. The inscription identifies the ruler by his full honorific titulature, proclaiming him the servant of Imam Mohammad Mahdi and bearing the laqab Abu al-Muzaffar, followed by the regal name Sultan Muhammad Khodabandeh. The mint name Yazd and the regnal year 986 AH are incorporated into the lower register of the legend, completing the standard Safavid royal formula. The deeply engraved calligraphy fills the flan to its edges with characteristic Safavid hammered-coin style, leaving minimal open field. |
