Obverse description Entire field occupied by a multi-line Arabic-script legend in bold, cursive Nasta'liq calligraphy, reading 'Gangsui Ning Guangxu' (Gansu province, reign of Guangxu), with no border or decorative devices. The inscription is arranged across three lines and fills the irregularly shaped flan. Small pellet-like ornaments are visible between certain letter groups, serving as word dividers. The strike is characteristic of hand-hammered provincial Chinese Islamic coinage, resulting in slightly uneven relief and a rough, irregular edge.
