Obverse description Irregular hammered silver flan bearing four large Chinese characters arranged in a cruciform pattern around a central square device. The reign title characters 光緒 (Guangxu) appear at upper right and lower right, while 銀錢 (silver coin) occupies the upper left and lower left positions respectively. The strokes are bold and deeply impressed, characteristic of the hand-struck coinage of Chinese Turkestan. The field shows natural irregular edges and surface patination consistent with hammered provincial issue.
