Obverse description Central field dominated by the elaborate Ottoman-style tughra of Sultan Hussein Kamel, rendered in highly stylised interlocking Arabic calligraphy filling virtually the entire flan. The tughra incorporates the sultan's name and titles in the traditional imperial monogram format. The Hijri accession year 1333 appears in Eastern Arabic-Indic numerals below the tughra, accompanied by the engraver's initials HR to the left. The design is contained within a beaded border running along the rim.
