Obverse description Central shield bearing a rearing stag to the right, accompanied by a crescent moon and a six-pointed star in the upper field of the escutcheon, with the date 1565 divided across the lower portion of the shield. A curved banderole or ribbon arches over the top of the shield bearing a partial Latin legend. The overall design is characteristic of mid-sixteenth-century Transylvanian hammered coinage under János Zsigmond (John Sigismund Zápolya).
