Obverse description The German Imperial eagle (Type 2) displayed at center, with wings spread and head turned to the right, surmounted by the Imperial crown. The eagle bears on its breast a small heraldic shield (Hohenzollern quartered arms). The entire device is flanked on both sides by upright oak branches bearing acorns and leaves, tied at the base. A beaded border runs along the coin's rim. The Stuttgart mint mark 'F' appears at the base of the design between the oak branches.
