Obverse description Centrally placed Imperial German eagle (Type 2) displayed with spread wings, facing forward, surmounted by an imperial crown. The eagle bears a small heraldic shield on its breast and is flanked symmetrically on both sides by oak branches with acorns, their stems crossing at the base of the design. The mint mark 'A' appears at the bottom of the field, below the oak branches. No peripheral legend is present on this side.
