Obverse description The Imperial German eagle displayed at center, wings spread and head turned to the right, bearing a heraldic shield on its breast and holding orb and scepter in its talons, surmounted by an imperial crown. The eagle is framed within an open wreath of oak branches extending from the base, with the mintmark 'A' appearing twice flanking the lower junction of the wreath. The field is plain and unlettered, with a beaded border encircling the entire design.
