Obverse description Armored and crowned half-length effigy of King Gustav Vasa facing three-quarters right, the right hand raised bearing a scepter and the left hand holding a globus cruciger, both serving as symbols of royal sovereignty over Sweden. The royal bust is contained within an inner beaded circle, with the Latin legend arranged in the outer field. The portraiture reflects the characteristic Renaissance style of Swedish hammered coinage of the mid-sixteenth century.
