Reverse description A bold Maltese cross with eight ball-tipped arms occupies the centre of the field, its design formed by crossed pairs of staffs joined at globular finials, with each arm terminating in a fleur-de-lis-shaped extremity. At the centre of the cross is a circular escutcheon charged with three fleurs-de-lis, the royal arms of France. A six-pointed star appears at the top of the field between the legend and the cross. The circumferential Latin legend, reading CHRISTVS REGNAT VINCIT IMPERAT, encircles the entire design within a milled border.
