Obverse description Central field bearing Arabic inscription arranged in two lines, reading the sultan's name and the AH regnal year 1105. The legends are struck in a bold, somewhat crude hammered style typical of early Maldivian coinage, with the text occupying the majority of the flan. A horizontal dividing line separates the upper and lower inscription registers, and the coin's irregular, slightly convex surface is characteristic of hand-struck silver issues of this period.
