| Obverse description | Arabic inscription in two lines across the irregular copper flan, divided by a central horizontal line raised in relief. The upper register bears the word 'Al-Sultan' and the lower register carries the name 'Hasan Nur al-Din', identifying the reigning sultan of the Maldives. The lettering is rendered in a bold, somewhat rustic Arabic script characteristic of locally produced Maldivian hammered coinage of the late 18th century.
