Obverse description Central field occupied by a four-line Arabic tughra-style legend in bold, flowing naskh script, reading 'Sultanü'l-berreyn ve hakanü'l-bahreyn es-sultan ibn es-sultan' (Sultan of the two lands and ruler of the two seas, the sultan son of the sultan). The calligraphic inscription fills the flan in the characteristic Ottoman hammered silver style, with dot embellishments between letter groups. The rim is defined by a fine rope-like border of impressed granules. The silver surface displays the slightly irregular, hand-struck character typical of late 17th-century Ottoman coinage.
