| Obverse description | Full-length effigy of King Frederik III standing facing, clad in elaborate full plate armor with wide puffed breeches (Pumphosen) and tall boots, from which the coin derives its popular name 'Pumphosekrone.' The king wears the collar of the Order of the Elephant around his neck, his right hand resting on a scepter and his left hand positioned at his side near the pommel of his sword. The highly detailed figure extends partially beyond a beaded inner circle, with the royal legend divided by the crown above and the boots below. The artistic execution reflects the ornate Baroque engraving style characteristic of the Danish Royal Mint in the mid-seventeenth century. |
