Obverse description Central field dominated by four heraldic shields arranged in a cruciform pattern, meeting at a central rosette boss. The upper-left shield displays a rampant lion, the upper-right bears horizontal bars (the arms of Salzburg), the lower-left shows a further quartered device, and the lower-right presents additional heraldic charges associated with the see of Salzburg. At the top center, a small oval cartouche encloses the fraction numeral '1/2', flanked by the date '16' to the left and '54' to the right. The mint-master's initial 'G' appears in the lower field beneath the shields, serving as the only legend on this face.
