| Obverse description | Central field dominated by a composite heraldic shield displaying the arms of Bohemia (rampant lion) and the Holy Roman Empire (spread eagle), surmounted by an imperial crown. The date 1640 is inscribed above the crowned shield, flanked by small ornamental devices. A small escutcheon appears at the base of the composition. The design is characteristic of mid-seventeenth century Bohemian hammered coinage, with irregular flan and somewhat crude but detailed die engraving. |
