Adam Frederick of Seinsheim ruled Würzburg as prince-bishop from 1755 to 1779, a tenure that coincided with the financial wreckage left by the Seven Years' War. The small copper fractional issues of 1762 were struck precisely as the war ground toward its conclusion, when specie of any denomination was being hoarded and the Franconian economy was under severe strain from years of troop movements and requisitions through the region.
Kelln 41 is the standard reference for this type within the Würzburg copper series.
