Obverse description Central field features the denomination numeral 1/2 inscribed within an oval cartouche, flanked on either side by two heraldic shields: to the left, the arms of Appenzell Innerrhoden displaying a bear passant, and to the right a crowned imperial eagle shield. The date 1737 is positioned around the upper portion of the design, divided by the central cartouche. The composition is rendered in a bold, low-relief style typical of small Swiss cantonal coinage of the early 18th century.
