| Obverse description | Central field dominated by the elaborate interlaced Cyrillic monogram of Emperor Nicholas I (Н I), rendered in an ornate cursive script with sweeping flourishes. The Roman numeral I appears below the monogram, denoting the ordinal of the emperor's name. Surmounting the monogram is a detailed Imperial Russian crown with cross finial.
