| Obverse description | Central field bears the tughra (royal cipher) of Sultan Mahmud I in Arabic script, rendered in the characteristic Ottoman calligraphic style. The inscription is set within a dotted border encircling the entire coin. The die-struck lettering occupies the majority of the flan, typical of small billon hammered issues of Ottoman-period Tunisia. |
