| Reverse description | Plain field divided by a bold grid pattern of intersecting horizontal and vertical lines, forming a quadrilateral lattice design that fills the coin's flan. This geometric arrangement, a hallmark of Mysore kasu coinage of the Wodeyar period, is struck in low relief on the rough copper surface. The division into rectangular compartments may represent a stylized mill or lozenge motif conventional to this denomination. No legends or inscriptions are present on the reverse. |

Krishnaraja Wodeyar II ruled Mysore in name only for much of his reign — by the 1760s, Hyder Ali had effectively seized control of the kingdom's military and administration, reducing the Wodeyar dynasty to a ceremonial function. Coinage issued under his nominal authority continued to circulate, but real power had already shifted. This piece dates from a reign defined less by the king who authorized it than by the general who eclipsed him.
