Obverse description Full-length effigy of King Gustav Vasa facing forward, crowned and robed in a folded royal cloak. The king holds a raised sword in his right hand and a Royal Orb in his left, in a commanding regal pose. Between his feet, a small escutcheon bearing the Vasa family arms is depicted in the field. The design is rendered in the hammered style characteristic of early sixteenth-century Scandinavian coinage, with bold, angular relief. The surrounding legend runs along the outer rim of the coin.
