Obverse description Central shield bearing the rampant lion of the Netherlands, surmounted by an ornate crown with floral finials. The denomination '1/2 GL' is divided on either side of the shield within the field. The encircling legend reads MO ARG ORD FÆD BELG FRI, identifying the coin as silver coinage of the Federated Provinces of the Netherlands, Friesland. The design is executed in a bold, high-relief style typical of late 17th-century Dutch provincial coinage. The coin exhibits a reeded edge visible along the periphery.
