| Obverse description | Laureate and cuirassed bust of King James II facing left, with long flowing hair rendered in fine detail, the king wearing a laurel wreath and armoured drapery at the truncation. The royal effigy is executed in high relief in the Baroque portrait style characteristic of John Roettier's work. The circumferential Latin legend reads IACOBVS·II·DEI·GRATIA, separated by mullets, running clockwise around the periphery of the coin. |
