| Obverse description | Laureate and draped bust of George III facing right, rendered in the fourth portrait style as engraved by Thomas Pingo. The king's hair is elaborately styled in flowing curls beneath the laurel wreath, with the truncation of the bust visible at the lower field. The surrounding Latin legend reads GEORGIVS·III·DEI·GRATIA·, separated by raised dots, running clockwise from the lower left. The portrait exhibits the refined neoclassical character typical of late 18th-century Royal Mint coinage. |
