Reverse description A floriate cross occupies the central field, bearing a fleur-de-lis at its center point. In each of the four angles formed by the cross arms, alternating crowned fleurs-de-lis are positioned, lending a decorative heraldic character to the design. The circumferential Latin legend in uncial script runs along the full periphery, beginning with a fleur-de-lis privy mark. The overall composition is typical of the ornamental reverse designs employed in Burgundian-Habsburg gold coinage of the early sixteenth century.
