Reverse description The reverse displays the denomination and issuing authority in four horizontal lines of Roman capital lettering across the central field: the fraction 1/2 at the top, flanked by two rosette ornaments, followed by GROSSUS, BORUSS., and MERID., with the date 1797 at the base. The abbreviations stand for Grossus Borussiae Meridionalis (Groschen of South Prussia). The bold, well-spaced lettering is characteristic of late 18th-century Prussian engraving, and the field is otherwise plain. The rim is milled.
