| Obverse description | Draped bust of Pope Paul V facing right, wearing a camauro (papal skullcap) and pontifical vestments with elaborately rendered folds. The effigy is rendered in a bold, high-relief hammered style typical of early seventeenth-century papal coinage. The engraver's initials F.R. appear below the truncation of the shoulder. The papal legend is arranged around the bust beginning at approximately 8 o'clock, interrupted by star stops. |
