Obverse description The papal coat of arms of Innocent XI displayed prominently in the central field, surmounted by the papal tiara (triregnum) and crossed keys of Saint Peter, the traditional symbols of pontifical authority. The shield bears the heraldic charges of the Odescalchi family. The circular legend reads INNOC XI P M, identifying the pontiff as Innocent XI, Supreme Pontiff. The design is characteristic of late 17th-century Roman hammered coinage, with a beaded inner border encircling the composition.
