Obverse description The obverse features the prancing horse of Brunswick in high relief, depicted in left profile with forelegs raised and mane flowing, set upon a ground line occupying the central field. The heraldic horse, the traditional arms of the Duchy of Brunswick, is rendered in a vigorous, naturalistic style. The circular legend HERZOGTH. BRAUNSCHWEIG runs along the upper and right periphery in Latin characters, separated from the rim by a continuous beaded border.
