Reverse description A large plain cross extends to the inner circle, dividing the field into four quarters each containing a small six-pointed star in the angle. The cross is boldly struck in the hammered style typical of 15th-century Lorraine ecclesiastical coinage, with the four stars providing heraldic symmetry in the quarters. The surrounding marginal legend in Gothic uncial script reads MONETA* *VIRDVN'*, affirming the monetary authority of the Bishop of Verdun.
