A crown surmounts the upper portion of the shield, and the letter 'D' appears to the right of the shield in the field. A rosette appears to the right of the head in the field, and a crescent to the left, both serving as secondary heraldic charges. The design is rendered in the crude but characteristic style of hammered medieval Moldavian minor coinage, with an irregular flan and flat strike typical of the period.
