Obverse description Central field displays the quartered arms of Lorraine and Bar, featuring the bend of Lorraine with alternating stripes and the lion of Bar, all enclosed within a beaded inner circle. The shield is flanked by small heraldic ornaments typical of early 17th-century Lorraine coinage. A circular Latin legend surrounds the design, reading the duke's title. The flan is irregular and slightly broader than the die, characteristic of hammered production of this period.
