Reverse description A prominent patriarchal cross (double-barred cross of Lorraine/Anjou) occupies the central field, boldly struck within a beaded inner circle. The arms of the cross are plain and well-defined, consistent with the heraldic tradition of the House of Anjou. The surrounding Latin legend, separated by annulets as stops, reads: +° IN° HOC° SIGNO° VINCES° I°, a reference to the Constantinian motto 'In this sign thou shalt conquer.' The overall design is simple and devotional in character, typical of late fifteenth-century Provençal billon coinage produced under hammered technique.
