| Obverse description | Within a beaded inner circle, a cross pattée occupies the central field with a five-pointed star placed in each of the four angles formed by the arms of the cross. A small shield of the city of Metz is positioned at the top of the cross. Two concentric marginal legends in Latin run between the inner circle and the beaded outer border, invoking the name of Jesus Christ and identifying the denomination and issuing city. |
