Reverse description A short cross pattée is centrally positioned within a beaded inner circle, its splayed arms clearly rendered in raised relief against a plain field. Surrounding the central motif is an inner circular legend in uncial Latin characters, itself enclosed by a second outer circular legend separated by a beaded border, forming a concentric double-legend arrangement characteristic of Low Countries gros coinage of this period. The overall design closely follows the Flemish gros tradition, with the cross pattée serving as the principal heraldic and devotional symbol. The legends name the mint city of Hasselt and invoke the sign of the cross.
