Obverse description Draped bust of Philip II facing left, wearing a ruffled collar, rendered in a characteristically late-Renaissance style consistent with Barcelona coinage of the period. The effigy occupies the central field and is enclosed within two concentric beaded circles. A Latin legend runs continuously around the periphery between the beaded borders. The coin exhibits the slightly irregular flan typical of hammered silver issues of the Principality of Catalonia.
