Reverse description A long voided cross divides the reverse field into four quadrants, with an annulet positioned in the first and fourth angles and three pellets or bezants arranged in the second and third angles, a heraldic arrangement characteristic of Barcelona municipal coinage. The cross extends to the inner beaded circle, boldly separating the four quarters of the field. A circular Latin legend reading the city name is inscribed between two concentric beaded borders surrounding the entire design. The overall composition follows the established type of Barcelonese silver coinage of the late fourteenth and early fifteenth centuries.
