Obverse description Crowned and bearded effigy of King Henry VIII facing three-quarters to the right, rendered in the bold, somewhat stylised manner characteristic of late Henrician hammered coinage. The king wears an arched crown, with facial features including a prominent beard clearly delineated within a beaded inner circle. The royal legend encircles the portrait in uncial Latin lettering, separated from the central device by the beaded border.
