| Reverse description | A plain cross pattée divides the reverse field into four quarters, each canton adorned with a grouping of pellets or annulets arranged in a decorative pattern characteristic of the Barcelona mint coinage of this period. A beaded inner circle frames the central cross design, while the circumferential Latin legend CIUITAS BARCKNONA runs around the outer field in Gothic lettering, identifying the City of Barcelona as the issuing authority. The overall composition follows the established medieval Catalan monetary tradition for the Barcelona groat series. |

| Additional information |
Ferdinand II's reign over Catalonia began under considerable tension — the Catalans had spent the previous decade fighting against his father John II in a civil war that only ended in 1472, leaving deep institutional mistrust. The Principality retained its own mint, coinage, and monetary privileges under the Crown of Aragon's constitutional framework, which Ferdinand was politically obliged to respect despite his broader centralizing ambitions.
The "wavy hair" designation distinguishes this emission from closely related dies within the Cru#1143 type grouping.
