| Obverse description | Crowned facing bust of David II within a cusped Gothic tressure of three arches, the king depicted with flowing hair and wearing a prominent crown with three fleurs. The monarch holds a sceptre to the left in his right hand, the whole set within an inner beaded circle. The surrounding field is defined by the tressure's decorative foliage, and the legend in uncial Gothic lettering runs continuously around the periphery between the inner and outer beaded borders. |
