Obverse description The Pahonia, the armorial device of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania, depicted as an armored knight on horseback advancing to the left, his right arm raised and brandishing a sword above his head. The rider is shown in dynamic pose atop a galloping horse, rendered in the bold, somewhat schematic relief characteristic of late medieval hammered coinage. The central device is enclosed within a plain inner circle, with the circumferential legend in Gothic uncial letters reading mOn' ALEXAnDRI occupying the outer field.
